Imagine growing up next to a charming farm overlooking the Douro River, and after years of traveling the world, feeling an irresistible call to return to this paradise. This is the story of Luís Almeida, owner of Arrabia Guest Houses Glamping, who was born and raised around the Quinta. After venturing into the study of hospitality and tourism and working on cruise ships, Luís realized that his true paradise was in Raiva – with its rivers, mountains, gastronomy, and welcoming people. He felt this place deserved to become a top-tier tourist destination, enriched by his own travel experiences.
THE PROJECT
Over 25 years ago, Luís had the opportunity to acquire the Quinta. That’s when the idea, the project, and the determination came together to turn this dream into reality. With self-sufficient initiatives, Luís, his wife Paula, and his father, Mr. Rodrigo, brought this endeavor to life.
The project began with the restoration of the Quinta’s main house, now home to Luís and his family. This was followed by the Casa de Xisto, the tents, and the cabins. The tradition of sustainable progress continues, with plans underway to restore additional schist houses. Today, this is a semi-family-run business, supported by the collaboration of local individuals and small businesses.

The name "Arrabia" stems from "Raiva," derived from the Latin word "Rabia," which translates to "rage" or "fury."
